Understanding Water Scarcity: The Role of AI in Sustainable Solutions
Özet
Water scarcity is a critical global challenge, driven by factors such as climate change, urbanization, population growth, and inefficient water management. As water resources become increasingly strained, the consequences extend beyond physical shortages, impacting agriculture, public health, economic stability, and ecosystems. These cascading effects make water scarcity one of the most pressing issues of the 21st century, requiring urgent and innovative solutions. Traditional water management approaches, while valuable, are proving inadequate in addressing the growing complexities of water distribution and conservation. As a result, there is an urgent need to explore advanced technologies that can enhance efficiency and sustainability in water resource management. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative tool in tackling water scarcity. AI-powered systems provide innovative solutions by enabling predictive drought modeling, real-time groundwater monitoring, and optimized irrigation practices. These applications enhance water use efficiency, minimize losses, and ensure that limited resources are distributed effectively. This chapter emphasizes the need for interdisciplinary collaboration among experts, policymakers, and local stakeholders to develop sustainable solutions. By leveraging AI alongside holistic water management strategies, we can work toward a future where water resources are preserved, efficiently utilized, and equitably distributed, ensuring long-term sustainability for future generations.
